Spring is right around the corner—even for those on the East Coast, believe it or not; it’s time to start planning your spring client party. Client parties are a great way to connect with your best clients and express your gratitude for the referrals they send your way. Here are a few tips for throwing a great client party this spring or any time of year.
1. Start planning early. Time flies! Choose a date a month or two in the future to give you plenty of time to plan the event. Venues fill up quickly, especially in the spring and summer, as do people’s schedules.
A garden party: Rent space at a local botanical garden or similar site, and serve a variety of refreshing beverages and finger foods. String lights in the trees and place bouquets of flowers in the center of each table. Send guests home with seeds to plant in their gardens.
A Flag Day weekend barbecue: Serve a variety of beverages as well as burgers, veggie burgers, potato salad and all the traditional favorites. Send guests home with a patriotic flag.
A picnic: Reserve space at a local park and serve sandwiches, chips, salads and a variety of beverages. Set up stations for horse shoes, bocce ball or other fun games.
3. Call your guests the day before to remind them of the festivities, and let them know how excited you are to see them.
4. Brush up on your hosting skills. While it’s important to enjoy the party, be sure to speak with all of your guests and make them feel special. Give a toast to thank everyone for attending, and let them know how much you appreciate their referrals.
5. Send a personal note. After the event, send a short personal note to each of your guests to thank them again for attending. Be sure to remind them that you’re never too busy for their referrals.
