Last week, Brian Buffini’s Success Tour kicked off 2015 in San Diego. Agents from Southern California and beyond descended into ‘America’s Finest City’ (and tuned in to view the live webstream) for two days of knowledge and inspiration from Brian Buffini, America’s best listing agent, Joe Niego and best-selling author Tim Sanders. We’re excited to have guest blogger and Product Development Projects Manager, Emily Couch offer her unique perspective of the event and share her tips to become more successful in 2015.
The kickoff to the 2015 Brian Buffini’s Success Tour was fantastic! Even as a Buffini & Company employee, every time I hear Brian Buffini speak I get re-infused with the electricity of living the good life! There were many incredible things I took home from the first Success Tour of the year.
On the first day of the event Tim Sanders said, “If you feed your mind good stuff, you will develop more relationships.” This is a powerful statement. How many times have you come home from a long day at work and immersed yourself in several hours of reality TV? Chances are, watching several hours of Keeping up with the Kardashians, while entertaining, is not feeding your mind what it needs after a long day. How can you develop better, more healthy relationships when you’re not working on yourself? Feed your mind good stuff and watch your network grow.
On day two Joe Niego said, “It’s your skills that pay the bills!” Developing your skills as a professional will increase your success tenfold. This ties in to what Tim Sanders spoke about on day one. Nourish your mind with the “good stuff.” It will increase your skills that help build the vital relationships that feed and cultivate your network and income.
While Brian had many incredible one-liners like, “Burn your corporate bra!” At the San Diego event, the #1 thing that Brian said that resonated with me is, “80% of success is just showing up.”
Sometimes 100% of that particular struggle is just showing up on time, prepared and in a good mood. Showing up is superb, but make sure you have yourself together when you do.
• Don’t cancel any appointment because you don’t feel like going. You won’t wake up every day feeling like going to work. You’re human. Own the emotion of the moment, then get up, get dressed and show up.
• Don’t be late. Respect your clients’ time. Be on-time (or early).
• Don’t show up crabby or irritable. If you don’t feel like being happy – do it anyway – sometimes you have to fake it ’till you make it.
• Don’t show up ill-prepared. The “fake it ‘till you make it” method is not applicable here. Know your who, what, when, where and why. If you’re not prepared, it will be obvious and diminish your credibility as a professional, and could cost you a sale.
Happiness and success are only limited by your state of mind. How are YOU showing up today?
