The fall is the perfect time to connect with your clients. The cooler temperatures and upcoming holidays make people eager to connect with one another. So, why not get face-to-face with the people who drive your business? Here’s how:
The basics: Sometimes it’s best to keep it simple. Your clients want to hear from you, so pick up the phone or send a text or email to check in. Also remember to send your IOVs and eReports on time to remain consistent and continue to build trust.
Get face-to-face. Pop-Bys allow you to check in with your clients in-person at their home or office. Deliver a small, thoughtful gift such as a reusable bag for apple picking, a favorite hot beverage or baked good, or another item you think they may enjoy. The point is to show your clients that you appreciate their business and the referrals they send your way.
Plan a party. What better way to connect with your clients than at a party? Client Appreciation Parties allow you to chat with your top clients in one place. Some festive fall ideas include a hayride, apple or pumpkin picking or a Halloween party. Get creative! If large parties aren’t your thing, plan a small dinner party with your A+ clients instead.
You’ve connected with your clients; now what?
1. Listen. If you want to serve your clients, it’s important to listen. They may reveal information about themselves that may help you serve them better in the future.
2. Find a need and fill it. Always listen for way to help your clients, whether they specifically ask for something or mention it in passing. For example, if your clients mention they’re thinking of adding on to their home or would like a referral to an interior designer, connect them. Or, if they mention they’re curious about how much their home is worth, offer to do a comparative marketing analysis.
3. Ask for a referral. Although your clients may freely refer you to their family and friends unprompted, most will need a gentle reminder. Before you say ‘goodbye’ be sure to remind them you’re never too busy for their referrals. The referrals they send your way now will fill your pipeline all winter and well into 2019.
