We all could use an extra shot of motivation from time to time, especially when we’re beginning to feel burned out or when it seems as though business isn’t going our way. In these situations, it helps to have a ‘why’ to reconnect to. Your ‘why’ is your reason for working as hard as you do. Not sure what your ‘why’ is? Here are a few tips to help you find it:

• Why did you get into real estate? Did you want to be your own boss or be able to have more control over your day? Did you want to make enough money to live well, take your family on a nice vacation or retire early? Your reason for getting into real estate can offer insight into your ‘why.’

• Think about what drives you and makes you feel the happiest. Simply put, what inspires you and puts a smile on your face? Since your ‘why’ is your inspiration, think about what you’re inspired by. Is it to spend more time with your children or to be able to take a few weeks off to travel? Do you want to set your parents up in a nicer home or help them in retirement? Do you want to leave a legacy in your community, helping animals or the less fortunate?

• What is the life you want to live? We all dream about the life we wish we had. Take five minutes to think about what you want your life to look like in a year, or even five or ten years from now. Write down the details. This exercise gives insight into your ‘why.’
