How to be More Productive Each Day

Streamline Your Lead Generating Activities

Are you truly productive or just busy? If you’re like most people, you may confuse the two. As a small business owner, you’re to-do list is always growing. While you may feel you’re getting a lot done when you cross things off the list, you may not be as productive as you wish. Productivity is finishing the most important tasks of the day, no matter what. Often, we get caught up doing the less important, time-consuming tasks; this prevents us from doing the tasks that drive our businesses. If you want to be more productive each day, here’s how to start:

Prioritize your to-do list. It’s not enough to write a to-do list; instead, prioritize the tasks on the list. What is the most important activity on the list—the one thing you have to complete no matter what? Put that task at the top of the list. Once it’s complete, move to the next most-important task.

Time-block. If you’ve ever complained that you don’t have enough hours in the day to get things done, start time blocking. Block your days into 60 to 90 minute blocks, with 15 minute breaks in-between. During this time, focus on one thing (like the most important task on your list) and don’t let any fires or other distractions keep you from it.

Set goals. Goals are critical to success. When you set realistic goals to achieve, you can be sure you’ll complete them. Set short-, mid-, and long-term goals to achieve. This will help you focus each day and remind you what you’re striving for, especially if you’re feeling overwhelmed.
