Your habits can determine your success. If you have great habits, you’ll set yourself up for success. However, bad habits can create hurdles on your journey to achieving your goals. Here’s how to refine your habits.
Pinpoint the habits you want to change. Oftentimes, we know that certain habits may be holding us back. For example, while we may understand that checking our phones for messages or scrolling through social media every few minutes takes away from the time we could be spending making calls or writing personal notes, but we do it anyway because it’s a habit. Think about what you do each day and write down the habits that you feel are holding you back from success.
Replace bad habits with good habits. Once you’ve identified the habits you’d like to change, determine the good habits you’d like to replace them with. For example, if you’d like to spend less time scrolling through social media, make the habit of making a call to a client when you get the urge to scroll.
Visualize. Visualizing success is a powerful tool to changing your habits. Visualize the life you want to lead and see yourself doing the habits you’d like to adopt. Write down the steps you’ll need to take to successfully replace your bad habits.
Know your triggers. What triggers cause you to give in to the bad habit instead of making the better choice? If you find yourself constantly checking your email, ask yourself why? Is it because you don’t want to miss a message? Are you trying to avoid working on another aspect of your business? Identify what triggers the bad habit and you’ll be able to replace it with a better habit.
Track your progress. Use Referral Maker® CRM to help you track your progress toward achieving your goal. Tracking not only helps you achieve success, it also provides perspective and motivation when you need it the most.
Be patient. Change takes time. Just as it took time to develop bad habits, it’ll take time to replace them with good ones. Be patient with yourself and your progress and keep at it each day. Over time, the good habits will prevail.
Reward yourself for your hard work. If you want to stay motivated, reward yourself for a job well done.

Thanksgiving is the ideal time to reflect on what you’re grateful for in business and in your life. When you’re grateful, it not only benefits your health and well-being; it may also benefit your business as well.
1. Show your clients you appreciate their business. Express your gratitude to your clients to show what their business and referrals mean to you. This can be a simple “Thank you,” a hand-written personal note or a thoughtful Pop-By gift. After all, your clients had a choice and selected you to guide them through the home buying and selling process.
2. Provide perspective. When you have one of those days when you feel you should have just stayed in bed, being thankful for what you have can help you change your perspective. Instead of focusing on all that’s going wrong, you can look at your circumstances in a more positive way.
3. Encourage new business through referrals. We all like working with people we truly like and trust. When you’re grateful for your clients’ business and referrals, they’re more likely to send new business your way.
