If you’re like most agents, you want to be more productive, and to do so you may churn out longer hours at the office, working without breaks or time off. For a short time, we may convince ourselves that we’re getting more done. In actuality, the longer hours are causing us to sacrifice our time with our loved ones, sleep less and stress more. Soon, we realize despite all of our busyness, we’re not seeing the results we want and are too frustrated, tired and burned out to keep going. The reality is, productivity doesn’t hinge on long hours, it hinges on using your time wisely and, most importantly, making time for rest. Here are five things you can do to boost your productivity.
Invest in personal growth. When you grow your mind and skills, you grow your business. Personal growth involves doing activities, such going to seminars, taking classes, reading books, meeting with a mentor, etc., to help you expand your knowledge, sharpen your skills and maintain motivation. Personal growth isn’t only for real estate professionals; it’s for everyone, regardless of their career or stage of life. The topic of the May flyer in your Referral Maker® Marketing Kit outlines seven ways your clients can invest in themselves and improve their lives and careers. This piece gives you an opportunity to fill a need by referring great books, DVDs, podcasts or other motivational materials your clients may enjoy. Don’t forget to include the letter with it, located in Referral Maker® CRM.
Rest. Though they may seem contrary, breaks and sleep are vital for better productivity. Why? They give your mind time to rest and process information. When we’re tired, our brains become fatigued which makes it not only difficult to focus, but also tough to remember. Schedule short breaks throughout the day to help your brain rest between important tasks, take at least a day off each week to enjoy with your family and friends or participating in hobbies, and get plenty of rest each night. You’ll feel refreshed, renewed and ready handle any challenges of the day.
Exercise. Did you know that exercise is not only good for your body, it can boost your productivity as well? Whether you take a walk around the block or participate in a lunchtime spin class, exercise boosts your mood, helps your brain release feel-good chemicals and prepares you to get more done each day.
Surround yourself with positive people. Positivity is contagious; unfortunately, so is negativity. If you want to stay motivated and maintain an overall positive mood, seek out positive people, whether they’re family, a mentor, a colleague you admire, etc. It’ll recharge your spirit and help you work more efficiently.
Change your outlook. A positive outlook makes you more productive as well as helps you stay motivated and keep perspective during challenging times. However, adopting a positive attitude can be difficult, especially if you’re not naturally optimistic. Train your brain to think optimistically and you’ll enjoy a boost to your productivity.
