Social media is one of the easiest and cheapest ways to get the word out about your business while exhibiting your competence as an agent and character as a person. The good news is that everyone and his grandmother is on social media so your reach is unlimited. The bad news is that more and more businesses are turning to social media to get the word out, causing you to compete with brands of all sizes and industries for the attention of your current and prospective clients. How can you stand out from the rest? Follow these three tips.

1. Provide value. Who doesn’t love useful information? As a real estate expert, you have the knowledge that potential home buyers and sellers seek, even if they’re not actively in the market to buy or sell. Post information about your local market, tips for buyers (especially first-time buyers) and sellers and interesting articles about boosting curb appeal or renovation tips.

2. Inspire a reaction. You don’t have to be all business all the time. Change it up by posting a fun or inspiring article, picture or cartoon. Be sure to keep it positive though: Positivity not only shows you in a good light, but it also serves a welcome change from the negative, divisive junk that clutters up many people’s social media newsfeeds.

3. Ask, Is this sharable? One of the best ways to expand your reach is to post content that your clients will want to share. When your clients and followers share your content, their followers will see your name as the original poster. This will help you gain a foothold with the people in their networks.
